  • Inside the gym industry: Why are mega gyms like True Fitness closing down? The Usual Place Podcast, Straits Times Singapore, September 2026
    • I was on The Usual Place podcast with Natasha and Debby Lim from Dentons Rodyk to discuss the closure of True Fitness and True Yoga, why large-format gyms are under increasing pressure, the economics behind running a gym, why prepaid packages are so common, and what happens to consumers when a business shuts down. I also shared some of our own experience operating and closing gyms, and why our newer concepts have moved towards simple monthly payments with no long-term contracts. It was a useful discussion about where consumer protection should sit without making it unnecessarily difficult for businesses to operate.
